A 65-year-old parachutist was killed when his paraglider crashed in an open area of the Lower Galilee on Sautrday.

The crash occurred near the cooperative settlement of Sharona.

Initial investigations show the victim left Mount Tabor in his paraglider on Saturday morning. Later, reports were received about a crashed paraglider and an unconscious man, both found near Sharona.

Magen David Adom paramedic Yossi Halbi, who arrived at the scene, said, "We found a paraglider in an open area, with a man of approximately 65 years old lying nearby unconscious. He seemed lifeless, and within a short time we were forced to declare him dead."

The man is a resident of one of Israel's southern towns.
