The defense establishment is considering seizing the building of the Od Yosef Chai yeshiva in Yitzhar and stationing Border Police officers there, due to a series of recent violent incidents against Palestinian Arabs and security forces in the town, public broadcaster Kan reported on Tuesday.

Recent incidents include an attack of a military ambulance by youths, clashes with IDF forces, and a number of violent confrontations with Palestinian Arabs near Yitzhar.

If the plan is realized, it would not be the first time that security forces have seized the building of the yeshiva.

The yeshiva was seized in April 2014 after cyclical clashes occurred between security forces and an extremist element in the town, which began when a house was destroyed by the IDF, sparking tire-slashings of two IDF cars.

A year later, then-Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon decided not to renew the controversial seizure and the building was returned to the yeshiva.
