The young Israeli who on Thursday went missing in Georgia was found dead on Friday morning, 3 miles (5 kilometers) from where he slipped.

Crossing the Terek River in the city of Tbilisi together with three of his friends, 18-year-old Adler slipped and drifted away with current. His friends were unharmed, and later identified the body.

A 16-person rescue unit from the Georgian government searched for the youth overnight, finding his body in the morning. Israel's Foreign Ministry is working to bring the body home for burial.

The youth's family and Tbilisi's Chabad emissary Rabbi Meir Koslovsky had been searching for the young hiker since Thursday.

Last year, another Israeli hiker went missing in Georgia. Authorities found him lifeless four days later.
