Thousands of pilgrims from across Israel came last night, Thursday, to pray at Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem to mark the anniversary of Joseph’s passing.

The pilgrims arrived in transportation organized every month by the Samaria Regional Council and the Management of Holy Sites in Samaria. The entry was held with the permission and security accompaniment of the IDF.

Head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan said regarding the event: “We have the privilege as a nation to memorialize our leaders and mark the days of their passing at the sites where they were buried - even thousands of years after their deaths. This is the significance of our connection to these places. This is our strength as a nation.”

“We look forward to the day that this nation will raise its head, and we will be able to enter the holy sites and pray in broad daylight and without military accompaniment that needs to protect us from rioters. Who knows? In the merit of the righteous Joseph, that day may not be far away.”
