The Knesset's Finance Committee and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) on Wednesday morning approved a move lowering the price of Israeli passports.
According to the proposal, a passport at any time of the year received from the local Ministry of Interior branch will cost 265 NIS instead of the current 275 NIS. Meanwhile, a passport ordered on the internet during the winter will cost 155 NIS (instead of 195 NIS), and during the summer will cost 245 NIS.
Passengers who require a last-minute passport at Ben Gurion Airport will pay 800 NIS instead of the current 1,105 NIS fee.
"We have been working for a long time to lower the price of passports," Deri said. "I am happy that we made the decision to do so now."
"This is an additional step to lower the cost of living.
"I want to thank Finance Committee Chair Moshe Gafni (UTJ) for his commitment and help in ensuring this decision passed."
