The late and beloved Rabbi and MK Hanan Porat led the drive to build Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria after the Six Day War, at the behest of Rav Tzvi Yehuda Kook zts"l, Rosh Yeshiva of Merkaz Harav. A gifted speaker and charismatic idealist, considered an "iluy" (Torah genius) while in the yeshiva, he was also a courageous IDF combat soldier. He served as a role model for Israel's Religiouis Zionist youth who eagerly followed his example and his every instruction.
