IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot today (Tuesday) visited the Nezah Yehuda (Nahal Haredi) battalion stationed in the Binyamin area.

The chief of staff's visit to the haredi battalion took place against the background of the incitement and the increasing attacks against haredi soldiers in the past year.

As part of the visit, the Chief of Staff was briefed by the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Uri Levy, on the battalion's recent activities and achievements. In addition, a discussion was held between the Chief of Staff and the haredi soldiers, in which the soldiers recounted their struggles and difficulties, both at home and in the street.

In response to the soldiers' statements, the Chief of Staff encouraged them and said that he admired them for serving despite the heavy price they sometimes had to pay, and strongly condemned the slander and abuse of soldiers by self-appointed zealots.

At the end of his talk, the Chief of Staff emphasized that he is turning to all legal systems, including the police commissioner, in order to deal with the unacceptable trend in the harshest way possible, so that whoever maltreats a soldier will be imprisoned.

The rabbis of Netzach Yehuda, who accompany the soldiers during their service, noted that "the visit of the Chief of the General Staff is important encouragement for haredi soldiers in the IDF. Lt. Gen. Eizenkot's call to the various authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice joins many calls on the subject, whether by us, or by a number of other parties involved in the matter, and we hope that it will cause the soldiers of Netzach Yehuda to be able to continue with their important combination of significant army service while fully observing a Torah life."
