Last night, a special entry to the Tomb of the Joseph in Shechem in Samaria took place, during which cleaning and repairing projects were undertaken in preparation for the big event at the Tomb: the upcoming 41st day of the counting of the Omer, which corresponds to the character attribute of “Yesod Shebayesod” (Joseph is considered to be emblematic of the trait of “Yesod.”)

This event, which will take place shortly, is expected to see the presence of thousands of pilgrims at the Tomb from all over Israel - and the world.

Samaria Council head Yossi Dagan, who was present at last night’s event, said, “We merited to enter last night the gravesite of the Yoseph Hatzaddik (“Joseph the righteous”) in Shechem and pray and be happy and draw strength from the personage of Yoseph Hatzaddik at this place, and also to prepare for the big entry of “Yesod Shebayesod,” together with IDF officers and soldiers.”

“And of course, the continued renovation of Joseph’s Tomb [for] a garden and yard, as befits this place. The Samaria Council not only has the right to build here, but the obligation to preserve the holy sites the cradle of our heritage - and chief among them is Joseph’s Tomb.”
