The Women of the Wall organization is expected to hold a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony at the women's section of the Western Wall Tuesday. The ceremony will not be held in accordance with the established custom of the Western Wall or the approval of Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall.

Women of the Wall posted a message urging women to come to the Western Wall with their own Hanukkah menorahs to show solidarity with the organization.

The following day the Supreme Court will hold a hearing on a petition from the Center for Women's Justice, the legal organization which represents several former members of Women of the Wall. The petition demands that women read from the Torah on a regular basis at the women's section of the Western Wall.

The State initially asked for a postponement for the hearing. The Supreme Court refused to grant the postponement, and the hearing will take place this coming Wednesday.
