Two people were killed, and two more were seriously injured in a collision between two cars on Route 310, near the Bedouin city of Rahat in the Negev this afternoon (Monday).

MDA medics arriving at the scene were forced to declare the death of the two victims on the spot and hurried the two injured to the Soroka hospital in Be'er Sheva while administering treatment.

Sections of Route 310 have been closed to traffic, and police forces are on the ground investigating the circumstances of the deadly accident.

MDA medic Zaki Alhouzaeil, who treated the injured, recounted: "This was a very serious car accident. The force of the collision caused one of the cars to fall into a ditch at the side of the road, and the other came to a stop at the shoulder. The drivers and passengers in both cars were badly trapped.

"The driver of the car on the shoulder, a man around 50, was extracted from the car with a serious head injury. We administered preliminary treatment, which included sedation and respiration, and he was evacuated to the hospital in serious condition. We were forced to declare the passenger in the car dead on site.

"The people in the other car, that had rolled into the ditch, were also trapped. The driver, around 20, suffered injuries to multiple areas of his body, and we were forced to declare his death minutes after we arrived. The passenger next to him is suffering from a serious abdominal injury, and he was evacuated to the hospital in an ambulance," the medic added.

In a different accident today, a boy, 11, was seriously injured when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Be'er Sheva. He was also evacuated to the Soroka hospital in the city.
