An 80-year-old haredi person was brutally attacked (Wednesday) and seriously injured by unknown assailants on Chazon Ish St. in Ramat Gan. United Hatzalah paramedics who were summoned to the scene treated him with first aid and he was then rushed to hospital. The attack is under investigation.

United Hatzalah reported that "A seriously injured man who had been violently attacked at the Marom Naveh park on Chazon Ish Street was treated by United Hatzalah volunteers from the Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak branches. The circumstances and motives for the attack are under investigation."

According to passersby, the elderly man was beaten by a number of foreign assailants who apparently were trying to rob him.

Before losing consciousness, the victim reportedly told a security guard who came to his aid that he had been attacked by a group of Arabs.

Yosef Chaim Tobol, an United Hatzalah volunteer, related that "When I arrived on the scene I found an unconscious elderly man who was suffering from cuts and injuries to his head and was in serious condition. Together with other volunteers from the United Hatzalah motorcycle unit we gave him first aid treatment."

Yehuda Londner, an United Hatzalah volunteer who was on call and arrived at the place, said: "I found an 80-year old man lying in the bushes with a head wound probably caused by an attack on him. I gave him first aid treatment and he was then evacuated by a Magen David Adom ambulance to hospital, unconscious and in serious condition."

The police are investigating the event.
