After he led a Likud conference yesterday, which voted for massive party changes, Intelligence and Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz was invited on Wednesday morning to an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who tops the Likud list.
The Likud secretariat voted yesterday to significantly reduce the Prime Minister's powers, as chairman of the Likud.
According to a report on Channel 10, the Prime Minister is expected to take one or both of rebel Minister Katz's portfolios (Intelligence, or Transportation), as punishment for breaking rank.
At the conference on Tuesday, the Likud secretariat passed two changes: The first, to replace loyalist Attorney Avi Halevi with Attorney Ilan Bombach as the party's legal advisor. The second, and perhaps more important decision, was to mandate any change in the party, including the determination of salaries, go through the Likud secretariat.
