Police indicates no shots fired at JFK Airport

Despite report of gunfire at JFK Airport in New York, police say no evidence shots were fired.

After two people claimed they heard shots fired at New York City's John F. Kennedy Airport Sunday night, police gave the all-clear, reporting their was no evidence gunfire actually took place.

Police had been called to the airport at 9:37 p.m. local time Sunday evening.

Terminal 8 was evacuated and passengers were told to take cover outside cement traffic barriers, according to The New York Post.

In addition, some flights were diverted to airports nearby, according to Sky News.

Passengers fled the terminal, leaving behind hundreds of suitcases and bags.

Following the incident, NYPD officials suggested the panic may have been sparked by fraudulent 911 calls, CNN reported.
