A young married man in his 20s died early Monday morning while immersing himself in a Bnei Brak mikva.

According to witnesses, the man lost consciousness and collapsed while submerged.

Emergency responders were called in, but were unable to revive the man and were ultimately forced to declare him dead on the scene.

United Hatzalah volunteer responder Yossi Teitelboim described the incident.

“Early this morning the United Hatzalah hotline received a report of a man who had drowned in the mikva. The hotline instructed over the phone [those present] who had pulled [the man] out of the water how to resuscitate him.”

“When I arrived there he wasn’t breathing and had no heartbeat. I continued to use advanced resuscitation techniques with the help of other volunteers from the [United Hatzalah] motorcycle [responder] unit, but sadly, following our attempts to revive him we were forced to declare his death.”

The young man leaves behind a wife and three children.
