MK Haim Yellin (Yesh Atid), former head of the Eshkol Regional Council located adjacent to Gaza, harshly condemned the appointment of Yisrael Beytenu head Avigdor Liberman as Defense Minister at a Knesset plenum session on Monday.

"It's been a week that I'm walking around with a gas mask due to the political stench that is dangerous for the future of the state," said Yellin, criticizing Yisrael Beytenu's entry to the government.

"The government today is bringing a vote on the appointment of MK Avigdor Liberman to Defense Minister, MK Tzahi Hanegbi to Minister for defense needs in the Prime Minister's Office, and there is of course (Prime Minister Binyamin) Netanyahu as Mr. Security," he quipped.

"With the abundance of defense ministers the government forgot just one thing - that there is no security here. In Gaza the tunnels continue to be dug, the next round (of fighting) is at the doorstep and the (anti-tunnel) barrier that was promised still doesn't exist."

In another swipe at the prime minister, Yellin said, "even for the magician Netanyahu all the rabbits ran out and he's starting to play with the security of citizens of the state."

"We have to clean the stench and bring down this government that is stuck to its seats."
