Yisrael Beytenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman is demanding that Channel 10 News reporter Or Heller apologize and publish a clarification that remarks he made in the name of a "security official", claiming that Liberman is the one who leaked the State Comptroller's report about Operation Protective Edge, are incorrect.

Liberman’s lawyer wrote in a letter to Channel 10 that Heller’s remarks are defamation and demanded he publish an apology and clarification, adding that Liberman reserves the right to take appropriate legal action against Heller.

On Thursday, details from State Comptroller Yosef Shapira’s damning report on the conduct of the government during Protective Edge were leaked to the media.

The report is expected to strongly criticize Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz.

Sources close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu have accused “interested parties, including irresponsible politicians who were members of the Cabinet” of having leaked the contents of the report.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Shapira sent a letter to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit demanding him to order an investigation into the leaking of the draft report.

Shapira wrote Mandelblit that the leaked draft report was classified, and noted that by law, leaking the State Comptroller's report or parts of it before the deadline on which it is to be made public is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment.
