Temple Mount activist Gilad Hadari was given a "briefing talk" by the police on how to deal with the threats made against him by Arabs due to his frequent visits to the Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.
Hadari had complained to the police numerous times over the death threats, but apparently the police made do with a telephone briefing telling Hadari how to deal with the threats - instead of arresting the Arabs threatening to murder him.
"It cannot be that they're threatening me, I submit complaints and the police make do with briefing," said an exasperated Hadari. "If it were Jews threatening, the police and the Shabak (Israeli Security Agency - ed.) would reach them within minutes."
Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir who represents Hadari contacted the police, and demanded that the threatening Arabs be arrested.
"The conduct of the Israel police in all related to preserving the well-being of Jews on the Temple Mount and particularly the well-being of my client is borderline criminal negligence," said Ben-Gvir.
The lawyer noted that instead of arresting those threatening and inciting against his client, the police "are checking off their obligations with a patrol once or twice a week around his home."
"This is a failure, this is negligence, and most importantly (it is) police conduct that does not fulfill its role and what it is tasked with."
Ben-Gvir emphasized that "the police need to arrest the rioters immediately and give my client a weapon according to the law."
The lacking police response comes despite the very real danger of Arab threats against Temple Mount activists.
Prominent Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick back in October 2014 miraculously survived an assassination attempt in which he was shot four times from point blank range and critically wounded. He had been threatened by Arabs for a long time before the shooting.
