The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is hosting a new art exhibit, entitled "Bridge to the World," and comprised entirely of artwork made by Israeli adults living on the autistic spectrum.

The artists, aged 21 and up, created their masterpieces with the help of the "Meital" Day and Employment Center in Jerusalem's Kiryat HaYovel neighborhood.

The Meital center works with autistic adults, tailoring personal programs to the specific skills and the potential of each individual participant. Activities include painting, ceramics and various other crafts workshops, as well as life skills, including  packing, screwing, and home economics.

Autistic adults tend to suffer from difficulties in social communication, yet fascinatingly are able to successfully express themselves via nonverbal modalities, such as in art workshops.

Using color and creative materials, autistic adults can give expression to their innermost thoughts and feelings, and thus are able to make a significant contribution to the greater community.

Their masterpieces are displayed and sold at exhibitions around the country, and at "Meital," and all proceeds benefit the center's programs and activities.

The "Bridge to the World" exhibition seeks to raise the public's awareness regarding the importance of the center and its activities, as well as to give thanks to all the people involved in "Meital's" programming.
