IDF stats: Fewer casualties in 2015

In 2015, 36 soldiers were killed; about 15 of them are suspected of committing suicide during their military service.

Figures published Sunday by the IDF Manpower Division show that 2015 was the year with the fewest casualties in the past 12 years.

In 2015, 36 soldiers were killed, whereas 112 were killed in 2014, and in 2013, 40 IDF soldiers were killed.

In 2006, the year of the Second Lebanon War, 193 soldiers were killed.

The data further shows that in 2015, six soldiers were killed during operational activities, seven in traffic accidents, six died due to illness, two in other types of accidents, and about 15 casualties are suspected of committing suicide during their army service.
