About 150 people, mostly teenagers, demonstrated Sunday evening in downtown Jerusalem to protest against the continued torture of the detainees by the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet).

The protesters, residents of Kohav HaShahar and other activists carried banners demanding to stop the torture against the detainees, three of which have yet to meet with a lawyer for over two weeks, and calling for shutting down the Jewish Department of the ISA.

The demonstration was addressed by Kohav HaShahar’s community rabbi, Rabbi Ohad Krakower and also by Rebbetzin Esther Lior, the wife of Rabbi Dov Lior.

"Official representatives of the State of Israel and are not behaving in an acceptable Jewish a manner that is suitable for our nation, this must concern us," said Rabbi Krakower.  ''Torturing young boys who are in grade 10, 11 and 12 in a way that has never been done before in Israel is something that does not fit our values and we must protest against it. It hurts us as people who love our country and we need to shout about it."

Rebbetzin Lior added that "the mere fact that Jewish children are being tortured in Israeli prisons is outrageous and intolerable. I heard about dark regimes that arrest Jews yet they don’t torture them as our children are being tormented."

Rebbetzin Lior referred to the politicians’ denials of torture, "I know of personal testimonies that there are those who are trying to extort confessions from these children, "she said.

It should be noted that during the morning and afternoon hours "Jews do not torture Jews" activist held several reenactments around Jerusalem which exhibited to passersby how torture is occurring in ISA facilities.
