Pedestrians in Ashdod on Sunday morning alerted Magen David Adom after hearing the cries and screams of children from inside a building on Horesh Street.

MDA teams, along with Fire and Rescue forces, broke down the building's door and discovered a 35-year-old kindergarten teacher dead from a heart attack on the floor.

An initial investigation indicated that the teacher had lain there for an hour while the children remained helpless. Channel 2 reported seven children were in the teacher's care at the time of the incident.

Benny Manela, a United Hatzalah volunteer, recounted the traumatic scene.

"When we arrived, the kindergarten was locked...Once the door was opened, we approached the unconscious teacher. She had no pulse and we determined she was not breathing. We sadly had to pronounce her death."

"The children in the kindergarten suffered anxiety, and one was lightly injured by glass shards," Manela added. "Together with other volunteers, we provided them with medical care."

Investigators from the Israel Police's Lachish district are probing the circumstances of the incident.
