Jewish Home Chairman, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, said Tuesday that he opposes the idea of a "two state solution," when asked about Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's reported promise in Washington to try and bring about a Palestinian state.

"Regrettably," Bennett told Army Radio, "in Israeli politics, a sizable portion of the political parties, perhaps even a majority among them, supports the establishment of a Palestinian state."

"I think that it is a historic mistake," he explained. "I think that 100 years from now, historians will write – 'how is it possible that at the heart of a jihadist era, there were people who were talking about injecting all that jihad into Israel?'"

Regarding reports that Netanyahu promised, in talks with US President Barack Obama, to make economic gestures toward the Palestinian Authority (PA), Bennett said that he supports giving PA businesses the best conditions possible as a policy, and not just in "gestures."

He denied that there was a unanimous vote in the Diplomacy and Security Cabinet before Netanyahu flew to the US, to ease economic pressure on Palestinian Arabs.
