After a long, hot summer, rain is set to arrive in Israel on Wednesday, after Jews throughout Israel prayed for a wet winter on Monday.

Temperatures are set to fall significantly over the next day, and a storm should bring the first rains to Israel by late Tuesday.

Rain will intensify late Tuesday and continue throughout Wednesday before tapering off Wednesday night, forecasters said, with rain reaching almost all parts of the country.

Sporadic local rain is expected in northern and central Israel over the next several days, as well.

August and September were unusually hot in Israel, and many people in the country are ready to welcome the cooler weather of October.

According to reports, security officials are also happy that rain is their way – hoping that damp and wet weather will discourage continuation of the mass riots in Arab neighborhoods that the country has experienced in the past several days.
