Vandals have destroyed the "Ein Oren" monument set up in memory of Staff Sergeant Oren Noah, who was killed last summer during Operation Protective Edge.
After Noah's death last July, his friends from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit decided to establish "Ein Oren" - a monument and lookout point in the northern part of the Israel National Trail.
They renovated a spring at the site and installed benches in a tribute to Noah's memory.
"We are furious, shocked and ashamed," Noah's friends wrote Thursday on a Facebook page dedicated to the fallen soldier. "So ashamed for our Oren, who went out to battle to defend the homeland, so the people here can live their lives as quietly as possible."
"He did not return from there! The minimum consideration we can give him as citizens of Israel is respecting his memorial."
"But then a group of people show us clearly that they don't like what's happening here - despite it being built with the full coordination of the Regional Council and with the proper permits - and they decide it won't happen."
"The second case of vandalism in six weeks, after renovation, at Ein Oren. The State of Israel 2015. Ashamed," they concluded.
It was only a week ago that Noah's family announced the second set of renovations for the monument were completed after someone had vandalized the site.
"Congratulations to Oren's friends for finishing Ein Oren for the second time. The sign was back in place and the benches that were stolen were replaced with others more beautiful, more comfortable and with better reinforcements," the family said.
"May we all be blessed with love that we will continue to always give thanks to Oren and our dear soldiers, and continue to honor their memory in the best way they deserve.
Noah, 22, a resident of Hoshaya in the Jezreel Valley was survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
