The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, Fatah’s so-called “military wing”, on Monday threatened to carry out terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria in response to the arson in the Palestinian Arab village of Duma.

Abu Yazan, the official spokesman for the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, told the Al-Damir news agency that the burning of the toddler Ali Dawabshe will not go unpunished, and that in the coming days there will be an escalation and mobilization among the units of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade.

He called on Fatah’s Central Committee to start an armed struggle and to unify all the armed groups under one leadership. He further claimed that there is coordination between the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades and Israeli Arab organizations, with the purpose of opening a comprehensive armed campaign against Israel.

To illustrate the military capabilities of the group, Abu Yazan claimed that it fired rockets and mortars at Israeli population centers, and also claimed responsibility for several recent shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria, which were widely believed to be acts of revenge over the Duma arson.

The comments come several day after Fatah announced it had formed a new militia to protect villages against "settlers" after the arson attack, which has been attributed to "Jewish terrorists" though no arrests have yet been made conclusively proving Jewish or Israeli involvement.
