Three men, all from the Druze community, were killed Sunday in an accident between a taxi and a private car on Highway 70 near Tamra, in the lower Galilee.

Magen David Adom emergency rescue teams that arrived on the scene of the crash determined the deaths of Nur Shehade, aged about 25, of Mashhad, and two other men aged about 30. Two other people were evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa with moderate wounds, and a man aged about 35 was taken to the Nahariya Medical Center with moderate to serious wounds in the chest and stomach.

Deputy Minsiter Ayoub Kara, who is also a Druze, said Sunday that Israel has been victorious in all its wars but is inexplicably helpless in the war against traffic accidents. He demanded that the roads connecting Kabri and Rosh Pina to Highway 6 be completed as fast as possible, to reduce the traffic load on smaller highways. “Every delay,” he said, “exacts a price in accidents and victims, with pain, suffering and anguish for many families.”

It is believed that the private vehicle swerved from its lane for an unknown reason and crashed into the taxi, which has been approaching from the opposite direction.
