The Herzog College in Gush Etzion is once again holding its annual Tanakh study conference, attended by more than 7,000 people.

The conference, which began on Sunday, will run until Thursday and will include more than 200 lessons in Hebrew and English on subjects such as poetry, gender, geography, art, architecture, relationships, leadership and more - all in the context of the Hebrew Bible.

“It is a very exciting conference. Everyone is walking around with their Tanakh in hand from lesson to lesson,” said Dr. Yael Ziegler, one of the organizers of the conference. “Everyone’s talking about Tanakh. Everybody’s learning Tanakh. These are the most exciting days of my year. I think they’re the most exciting days of many people’s year, and it’s inspirational, exciting, interesting, and enlightening.”

“One of the things that is important to understand about this conference is that there’s been a tremendous revival of Tanakh learning in the past 67 years. I think that one of the reasons that we’re so excited about learning the Tanakh is that it connects us or we feel connected to the land.”
