For Lag B'Omer on Thursday around half-a-million Jews visited the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (Rashbi) in the northern town of Meron - but who exactly was the famous Talmudic-era sage?

Rabbi Lazer Brody explained to Arutz Sheva about the holiday, and how the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav indicate Rashbi carried on the spiritual task or "baton" of Moses from the Torah through a new aspect, which was later taken on by Rabbi Yitzhak Luria (Arizal) and others.
