Yisrael Beytenu has launched a smear campaign against the haredi parties this week, claiming that a coalition including Shas and United Torah Judaism will cause state money to be funneled exclusively to yeshivot [Torah academies - ed.].

"We have already forgotten that we have already survived two years of a government without the haredi parties," an article in a weekend newsletter associated with the party stated this week.

"We have grown accustomed to pensioners receiving their benefits. We have grown accustomed to IDF veterans receiving double their post-IDF benefits."

"But if we join a coalition with UTJ and Shas - all of those benefits will go to haredi families and yeshivot."

"This was the first government without the haredi parties, but it looks like it will also be the last," the newsletter added. "[Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] has already called to form a coalition with them and made many promises to them to cancel the haredi IDF draft, to provide financial support and a budget."

"We have already forgotten the reasons behind the elections on March 17," it continued. "Netanyahu wanted to form a coalition with the haredi parties and [Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor] Liberman opposed."
