No less than 12 people died on Wednesday in a TransAsia Airways plane crash near Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, and harrowing video filmed by a motorist captured the plane as it struck a bridge while plummeting into the Keelung River.

The domestic flight held a total of 58 people, with officials reporting earlier that 16 were wounded and 30 others were still missing.

The plane, an ATR-72 turbo-prop model, had moments earlier lifted off from Taipei Songshan Airport, and was on its way to the outlying Kinmen Islands, lying off the coast of the southeastern Chinese city Xiamen, according to the Taiwanese CNA.
