Jerusalem's District Attorney filed an indictment Sunday against terrorist Musa Mohammed Ajlouni, 20, a resident of eastern Jerusalem.

Ajlouni is accused of carrying out the stabbing attack at a security checkpoint near the Lions Gate in Jerusalem last month. Two policemen were injured in the attack.

He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

According to the indictment, Ajlouni intended to kill the two police officers by repeatedly stabbing their upper bodies, after having decided to carry out a terrorist act which would kill a police officer or an Israeli soldier and prompt his own "martyr's death."

Under interrogation Ajlouni admitted that he had prepared and hid a large butcher knife in advance.

The attack occurred on December 26. Video of the incident - released last Sunday by police after a gag order was lifted - shows the terrorist approaching the two border policemen from behind and violently attacking them in their upper bodies.

The two policemen, taken by surprise, can be seen briefly struggling with him. The knife fell from his hand but Ajlouni managed to escape.

However, the police recognized him as a troublesome local resident and he was finally tracked down and arrested in Ramallah on January 2 thanks to  intelligence from the Shin Bet.

The two officers sustained injuries as a result of the stab wounds. One suffered serious injuries to his hand from struggling with Ajlouni.

The indictment adds that the terrorist attempted to cause death by using a cold weapon (i.e. a knife), and that the assault was of a nationalistic motive and specifically related to the occupation of the officers.
