Excessively strong winds and heavy snows buffeted Israel starting overnight Tuesday only to intensify on Wednesday, with the major storm providing some dramatic vistas of the Holy Land covered in white.

Video from the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in the northern town of Meron where Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (Rashbi) is buried captured the impressive snowfall:

Pictures captured the heavy snow in the Golan Heights, as social workers in Jerusalem overnight tried to help the homeless find shelter so as not to remain exposed to the life-threateningly bitter cold.

The IDF was also subjected to the snows, with soldiers plowing the road to the Druze village of Beit Jan in the Golan Heights on Wednesday morning.

The soldiers also got a chance to pose with the white dusting of snow, which covered their tanks neatly.
