Tel Aviv traffic shut down on Tuesday night for the sixth annual Tel Aviv Night Run, which attracted over 25,000 runners including IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz.

"The Night Run has turned into a tradition of many years," Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said at the event. "The goal of the race is to allow thousands of runners to have a race experience, like tourists can experience in the beating heart of the city."

The route of the Night Run was changed this year to a 10 kilometer (over six miles) course from Rabin Square to the Sportek Grounds in Yarkon Park's Ganei Yehoshua, passing many famous sites and streets on the way

Not all was rosy in the race however, as Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics treated 55 runners suffering from dehydration and minor injuries.

Tel Aviv residents also complained about the event, with several venting on social networks by writing "the excess of events and many road closures will cost Huldai in the coming elections."
