Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz said he is “not aware” of an Egyptian offer to the Palestinian Authority to establish a Palestinian state in Sinai and Gaza.
In any case, he told Arutz Sheva, no diplomatic initiative is possible at this point, until Mahmoud Abbas “proves he is able take control of the Palestinian Authority, demilitarize Gaza and stand up to his previous commitments.”
He nevertheless called the idea of a Sinai-based Palestinian state “interesting” and “positive,” but added that he is not sure if the report regarding the offer is accurate.
Steinitz spoke to Arutz Sheva at IDC Herzilya's 14th International Conference on Counter-Terrorism.
