Canadian passengers will have more options to travel to Israel and back, according to Shalom Toronto, due to a new business deal between Porter Airlines and El Al Israel Airlines.

The airlines will use their operations at Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, as the connecting point between Tel Aviv and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

The option of using Billy Bishop - and not Pearson International Airport - opens up the possibilities for Canadians to take a second connecting flight to their home cities under the same ticket, according to the agreement.

Dina Kotler, CEO of the Toronto branch of El Al, noted that the new option gives "greater flexibility" to business travelers who commute from downtown Toronto to Tel Aviv regularly.

In addition, the deal brings six additional flights per day from Israel to Canada.
