MK Orit Struk (Jewish Home) on Saturday evening approached Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit and the Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea and Samaria, General Eitan Dangot, and updated them on the grave situation of some of the communities in Judea and Samaria which have been cut off from electricity, water supply, and means of communication for several days.

Struk stressed that there are thousands of families in these areas, hundreds of whom live in caravans and have small children and babies.

Dangot subsequently contacted GOC Central Command, Major General Nitzan Alon, and asked him to ensure that the IDF immediately help the residents.

The assistance will include sending a team of engineering forces to clear the area for workers of the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC), dispatching helicopters to some areas to transport IEC workers, and providing diesel for local generators.

According to the IEC, as of Saturday night at 1:00 a.m. there were still 18,000 households in Israel without electricity, including 9,000 customers residing in Judea and Samaria.

Residents of the community Har Bracha and their Sabbath guests, who spent the entire Sabbath without electricity, were evacuated from the community by volunteer rescue services on Saturday night.

The residents were taken by buses, provided by the Shomron Regional Council, to places such as Ariel, Barkan and Petah Tikva.
