The Southern Tel Aviv faction in Tel Aviv's municipal elections held an alternative “tashlich” ceremony for the Day of Atonement, in which it symbolically cast the municipality's sins against the residents of the southern neighborhoods into the Rabin Square pool.

Among the sins that were “thrown” into the pool: The New Central Bus Station, which is considered to be a center of crime and violence in the city; the wave of prostitution and crime thoughout the southern neighborhoods; the fear of local residents to go out of their homes after sunset, and the discrimination compared to the northern neighborhoods.
