The IDF placed an Iron Dome anti-missile battery in the Carmel region near Haifa on Friday, Channel 2 News reported.

Last week the system was deployed in the Haifa port area. The IDF explained that changing the location of the battery is part of the implementation of the system in the vicinity of Haifa.

As well, the IDF noted, the system is placed in different areas from time to time according to developments in the region and in accordance with security assessments.

In May, the IDF moved two Iron Dome anti-missile installations to northern Israel, following media reports according to which Israel took out two weapons shipments in Syria.

The Iron Dome can shoot down medium and long-range missiles and rockets. It has been used with a great degree of success to protect cities in southern and central Israel from Hamas rocket attacks.
