A pedestrian walkway collapsed on Sunday morning in the city of Kfar Saba. The incident took place on Weitzman Street, a major thoroughfare.

The bridge fell directly on to a truck. The truck driver suffered very serious injuries in the incident, and was trapped in his vehicle.

Paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene and attempted to treat the driver. Two giant cranes were called in to lift the bridge off the truck so that the driver could be freed.

The road was been closed to traffic in both directions.

The efforts to save the driver failed, and he was later declared dead. He was identified Sunday afternoon as 54-year-old Avraham Gola of Ashkelon.
