A resident of Bnei Brak nearly suffered a devastating financial loss on Tuesday – but was saved with help from dedicated city workers.

The man had put a large sum of cash into an envelope. His wife, not realizing what the envelope was for, assumed it was empty and threw it away.

When he realized what had happened, the man called his city’s Sanitation Department in tears and begged for help. The Mayor’s Office decided to get involved in the story and contacted Netanel Nachum, who manages the Sanitation Department and local police patrols.

The city paused garbage collection in the entire area while yeshiva students and municipal workers helped the man search the large trash dumpsters for his missing money.

Their efforts ultimately paid off, and the missing envelope was found hours later with the entire sum still inside.

The owner sent his emotional thanks to the city of Bnei Brak and all of the sanitation workers it employs.
