Israeli windsurfer Lee Korzits won the RS-X windsurfing World Championships in Buzios, Brazil on Tuesday for the third consecutive year and fourth time in her life.

Korzits won her first gold medal in the 2003 World Mistral Championships, the RS-X World Championships in Australia in 2011, and sailed to a gold medal at the championships in Spain last year.

While she failed to place among the winning titles at last summer's RS-X windsurfing event at the London Olympics, Korzits made an admirable attempt, placing at sixth place.

The award-winning windsurfer suffered a near-fatal surfing accident in 2009 while working on the Professional Windsurfers Association’s tour in Hawaii. Korzits managed, however, to adequately recover, defying medical predictions that she may be unable to resume her sport.

Maayan Davidovich, another Israeli contender, placed second in the windsurfing championship.
