Police swooped down on a 10-month-old outpost in Samaria early Wednesday and arrested, without violence, five youths for unknown reasons.

Unlike previous arrests, the police were unusually non-violent at the Geulat Tzion outpost, near the community of Achia in the Binyamin region of Samaria.

The security forces included personnel from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) as well as black-clad police from the “Yassam” special forces unit. Five others, including three youths, a father and a soldier on leave, were arrested after they arrived to document the incident.

“There seems to be a policy of harassment” by police, said one resident. He pointed out that almost no indictments ever result from this pattern of arrests.

The outpost residents work in agriculture and construction.
