Police said on Friday they have arrested a bus driver in connection with the accident that occurred in the Samaria town of Karnei Shomron on Friday morning and which claimed the life of 13-year-old Eliyahu Zilberstein.

According to Channel 2 News, police said the exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, and that the bus the suspect was driving has been sent to a laboratory.

A spokesman for the police’s Judea and Samaria District told Channel 2 News that at this point there are conflicting stories from eyewitnesses regarding the accident.

“A number of witnesses said that a shuttle bus hit the boy, and other witnesses said it was a self-inflicted accident,” the spokesman, Dudi Assaraf, said. “It is also possible that it was a combination of both.”

On Thursday, a two-year-old boy was hit by a car in Ramat Gan and suffered serious injuries. An initial investigation showed the child had escaped his mother’s hands and run suddenly into the road.

He is in an induced coma in Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital and remains in serious condition.
