Magicians from all over the world got together in Holon, just south of Tel Aviv, this week for the International Magicians Convention.

Part of the convention was the Magic Show Festival, featuring magic shows with some of the best magicians and telepathy artists from Israel and overseas. The convention and shows were all part of a special celebration marking the Society of Magicians in Israel’s 30th anniversary.

The magicians all agreed that the secrets of the magic world are less important nowadays, and that the showmanship is the important part. Even the ever-popular mentalists, whose show involves “mind reading," admit they don’t have power.

“I don’t think there’s any mentalist who says he has powers which you don’t have,” said Dalia Peled, President of the Society of Magicians in Israel. “There’s a lot of psychology when you do mentalism.”
