Arutz Sheva was at the Intel Israel annual news conference on Sunday, held in the southern city of Kiryat Gat.

During the news conference, Maxine Fassberg, general manager of Intel Israel, said the Israeli branch provides Intel with 40 percent of its profits. She added that Intel will hire another 600 employees this year.

Intel Israel hired 700 new employees last year, bringing its total work force in Israel to 7,800.

Arutz Sheva spoke to Intel Israel’s managers following the news conference.

“Israelis are very innovative, outside of the book thinkers,” said Mooly Eden, President of Intel Israel, when asked how World Intel sees Israel. “They’ve got great ideas which everybody likes, but, on the other hand, they challenge everything and do not respect hierarchy. So if you look at the Israeli, it’s an overall culture but if you know how to navigate it you can get real great things.”

Fassberg explained that the company “deals mainly with two aspects: design of new products, which we do in our design center in Haifa, and we manufacture those products in our leading edge factory in Kiryat Gat.

“In addition to that,” she added, “Intel Israel deals with wireless communication products and in broadband communication. The combination of these three places us well in the center of Intel’s road map.”

Beyond the design and manufacture, Fassberg promotes some social ideas at Intel Israel, which mainly involves employees volunteering in the educational system.

“Our employees work in many of the programs, such as Intel Teach and Intel Learn, where we deal with making both teachers and pupils computer savvy,” she said. “Beyond that, we believe in educating youth in Math and English, and we have many programs in which our employees work, within the school system, in the classrooms, volunteering to bring the kids to higher levels in terms of their ability to meet the matriculation demands.”
