Accountant Itzik Hadad, treasurer of the Kadima party, was being questioned by police Tuesday morning after the party filed a complaint against him. The complaint was filed by Kadima's legal adviser, Attorney Eitan Haberman, at the behest of Kadima chair Tzipi Livni.

According to the News1 website, the party said that Hadad is suspected of improper "personal and specific behavior" but offered no further explanation.

The complaint was preceded by an internal investigation conducted by Kadima's ombudsman, and is based on the ombudsman's findings.

Livni stated that "Wherever there is doubt, even the slightest doubt, of improper behavior in the political and public service, the law enforcement authorities must be immediately involved…"

Kadima is widely considered to be the most corrupt of Israel's current political parties. Among the leading figures whose names were tied with corruption investigations are former prime ministers Ariel Sharon and Ehud Olmert, and former finance minister Avraham Hirschson.
