Israel has denied an Al Jazeera report that Egypt had requested Israel to send it riot-dispersal gear and that two planes had landed in Cairo with equipment from Israel.

According to JTA, Israel's Foreign Ministry on Monday denied both that Egypt had made the request and that Israel had sent the equipment.

Al Jazeera is known to be stoking the flames of insurrection in Egypt, and a report that Egyptian security forces were using Israeli riot gear against the public would doubtless inflame the spirits there.

The Al-Jazeera report came on the same day as the IDF began blockading critical Egyptian border crossings. Military spokespersons said that the blockades were planned earlier and meant to stop infiltrators. They added that there is no connection with the uprisings in Egypt. However, the escape of wanted terrorists makes this a timely security measure.
