Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Binyamin Ben Eliezer (Labor) said Thursday that the government is making a special effort to assist two “weak population sectors” – the hareidi-religious and the Arabs.

Ben Eliezer spoke at the General Assembly of the Federation of Industrialists at Airport City.

Ben Eliezer said that “as part of the activity for advancing employment in Israel I gave instructions to put special emphasis on the absorption of the weaker population groups in Israel, with an emphasis on the Arab and hareidi sectors. Absorbing these sectors is a national mission and I see them as important and active partners in this mission.”

"It is important for me to emphasize that the role you play is not limited just to the financial area and to your companies' financial reports,” he said. “Rather, it influences all areas of life in Israel and especially the social sphere which is so complex in our country.”

Ben Eliezer said that there have been signs of recovery from the international crisis, but “the latest news about factories that are in danger of being closed remind us that we must still deal with the ramifications of the crisis.” The Ministry of  Industry, Trade and Labor has appointed a special team in order to examine new methods of assisting troubled factories, besides the tried and tested methods of loans, employee training and employment tracks.
