Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu joined his family on Thursday for the brit mila (ritual circumcision) of his first grandchild. The baby boy was born last week to Netanyahu's daughter Noa and her husband Daniel.

Per Jewish tradition, the child's name – Shmuel (Samuel) - was not announced until the brit mila ceremony.

Netanyahu's father, Professor Ben-Tzion Netanyahu, was present at the ceremony as well. Also in attendance was Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, a long-time acquaintance of the Netanyahu family.

Noa is Netanyahu's child from his first marriage, to Micki Weizman. The prime minister also has two sons, Yair and Avner, born to his third wife, Sara.

Noa was not raised in a religious lifestyle, but began observing traditional Judaism as an adult. She is married to Daniel Roth, and the two live in Jerusalem.
