Sderot and other western Negev towns remain under fire as at least 80 rockets, mortar shells and one missile fired in the past 24 hours from Gaza.

Ambulances and rescue squads are racing throughout the town of Sderot in an effort to locate the sites of the rocket explosions.

Medics treated at least five people, some in Sderot, others in the western Negev, following Kassam rocket attacks on the Negev town and surrounding areas, including Ashkelon. Four were treated for shock, or hysteria, one for very light wounds to the body from the concussion of a kassam exploding.

Most of the schools in Sderot were empty as parents feared sending their children in unprotected buses to learn in unfortified classrooms.

Sderot officials reported that 6,415 rockets and mortar shells have been fired on the city since the beginning of the Oslo War seven years ago.

Terrorists fired an estimated 40 rockets and, according to some reports, 25 mortar shells at Israeli towns on Tuesday.  Four residents of Sderot were lightly wounded in yesterday's attacks.  In addition, a Hamas sniper shot and killed a kibbutz volunteer from Ecuador on Tuesday morning near the Gaza border.
